Supporting the long-term sustainability of straw growing and working practices in Shetland
The organisation will promote the cultivation and exchange of locally adapted grain varieties such as Shetland Aets and Bere, champion traditional and contemporary straw-related crafts and cultural practices, and recognise these skills and traditions as living heritage.
Through education, research, advocacy and partnership working, the group aims to strengthen biodiversity, climate resilience, local livelihoods and community wellbeing. Encouraging innovation and inclusive participation in the future of Shetland’s straw-related heritage
